What to buy, and what not to buy for a healthy shopping list

When shopping, it's essential that you have something from the five major food groups in your shopping trolley. This is especially important for growing children; dairy products for proteins and calcium are very important to help make strong bones, grain and fibre help keep the digestive system healthy, and the lower the saturated fats, the less chance of obesity.

If you're shopping in the supermarket, take a look at the people you see buying the foods in the various sections, and you will generally notice any ill side effects of too much of that particular unhealthy food group. It's generally best to avoid the frozen food departments. You may want to buy frozen peas, but generally the frozen food department is full of processed fatty foods.
